The Hardest Thing is a mosaic film set in Skopje and an Albanian village in modern day Macedonia. It takes place over the course of one week and there is an epilogue that takes place nine months later, in Vienna and on a beach.
Strawberries tie the stories together. They are grown, exported, made into jam and indirectly the cause of one person’s death.
